THE SAASTR AI GUIDE TO BUILDING A TOP-TIER INBOUND AI AGENT: 17,000 CONVERSATIONS, ~600 MEETINGS BOOKED, AND 60% MORE NEW BUSINESS

SaaStr's inbound AI agent conducted 17,000 conversations and booked 600 meetings, boosting new business by 60%. Key improvements included replacing long forms with real-time qualification and direct meeting booking on high-intent pages. The self-serve agent enhanced this by creating personalized, trackable documents and employing heat mapping for deeper insights, supported by a lightweight, custom booking system on their site.

INTRODUCING FAST SEARCH IN THE PERPLEXITY SEARCH API

Fast Search runs on a Rust-based retrieval and ranking service called Photon that Perplexity built with a small team of engineers and hundreds of agents. It returns 95% of search results in 230 milliseconds or less. Fast Search has a median latency of 160 milliseconds, and it spends less on compute on ranking than Perplexity's default preset. Photon now handles all of the retrieval and ranking across Perplexity, replacing the open-source engine the company was using before.

INTRODUCING AMAZON CLOUDWATCH OMNI: COLLABORATIVE AI-POWERED OBSERVABILITY FOR YOUR APPLICATIONS

Amazon CloudWatch Omni is an AI-powered observability experience for applications and agents. Working in Omni does not require access to the AWS Management Console. The telemetry sent to CloudWatch automatically appears in Omni with no reconfiguration required. Any other workload instrumented with OpenTelemetry sends its telemetry to an OpenTelemetry Protocol endpoint.

WHY VENTURE DUE DILIGENCE GOT WORSE FOR DEEP TECH

Venture due diligence for deep tech has worsened, driven by deployment pressure, herding behavior, reliance on lead investors' reputations, and the removal of independent expert review layers. Deals in frontier tech sectors like AI and quantum often close rapidly without thorough technical vetting, exposing investors to unverified risks. Limited partners are advised to mandate independent technical feasibility reviews before deep-tech investments to enhance diligence and protect their capital.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BUILD GREAT PRODUCTS NOW

Getting there fast doesn't mean you've built something great. Teams need to decide whether a direction is the best, whether the product fits the team, and whether the product is worth building. The teams answering those questions well are strong in speed, direction, and differentiation. They'll keep moving through the final stretch, weigh many directions before betting on one, and shape the result into something only they would make.
