TLDR Founders

THE MCDONALDIZATION OF VENTURE CAPITAL

A bigger venture fund can change which version of your company an investor wants to back. Venture is splitting between firms seeking exceptional returns and asset managers built to deploy enormous pools of money. Large asset managers can be satisfied doubling or tripling their money, so they favor companies that can absorb billions of dollars in familiar markets. The same incentives push founders toward businesses that fit the next large investor's expectations.

WHEN THE MODELS CATCH UP

If the promised outcome depends on future model improvements, start with the work customers can finish today. Products that only demonstrate what might be possible can generate excitement, but back it up with evidence about what customers can finish today, as people pay for what they can accomplish. A useful partial solution can help you gain valuable feedback for the next model iteration. Keep in mind what the business can still offer when competitors can buy access to the same model.

WHAT CHANNELS GROW WHEN ORGANIC SEARCH SHRINKS?

An email audience is becoming more valuable as organic search sends fewer visitors. An analysis of Similarweb data puts US email traffic up 16.3% in the first eight months of 2026 against the same period last year. Email added more visits than paid search after excluding Google's ad-routing domain, and the median website's email traffic grew 14.7%. The gains include receipts and notifications, so they measure visits rather than new customers. As search becomes less dependable, give potential buyers a reason to keep reading your emails and return directly to your site.
