MIDJOURNEY ADDS LIVE STYLE PREVIEWS AND MORE REVERSIBLE CONTROLS

Midjourney added live style previews in the Styles sidebar, saved prompt defaults, and undo for project deletion. Experimental previews rely on fast models and prompt text alone, and picking a style submits the prompt with it. Midjourney says its updated edit model preserves pixels outside the selected area, a claim shown only in an official demonstration, not an independent test.

FIGMA INVESTS IN THE UK WITH EXPANDED LONDON OFFICE

Figma has expanded its London office at Elder Yard on Norton Folgate, deepening investment in one of its largest markets outside the United States. Figma's global AI report found 41% of product builders say AI meaningfully changes team collaboration, and 52% of UK respondents now say design matters more.

THE BOX DESIGN SYSTEM: AI‑READY FIGMA FILES FOR ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE

Flexy Global's Box Design System organizes complex enterprise product behavior into bounded Figma sections, making design files easier for people to navigate and for AI coding agents to use. Boxes form a feature, flow, and screen-state hierarchy built around behavior rather than pages, with self-contained context and arrows showing transitions. They cannot fix an undefined product or replace the design system and codebase, but as design files become inputs to AI-assisted development, this structure is becoming part of the product.

HOW AI AGENTS ARE RESHAPING UX

Decagon CEO Jesse Zhang says personal AI agents such as Meta's Muse will reshape customer experience, since agents skip product displays and purchase-inducing flows. Amazon blocked Muse while Shopify opened a dedicated payment channel, though Zhang expects Amazon to back down because customers want AI assistant integration. Companies need to verify agent authority, set negotiation limits, handle exceptions, and stop fraud running at machine speed, with AI systems ultimately transacting machine to machine.

WHAT DOES AI-READINESS MEAN IN DESIGN SYSTEMS?

AI-ready design systems depend less on specialized agent tooling and more on strong engineering fundamentals that make components, APIs, tokens, and documentation easy for machines to discover and understand. Testing with the Open Design System Bench found that clean separation of concerns and a single source of truth can outperform additional instruction files, which may actually hurt results when they contain stale or duplicated information. Mechanical correctness is only half the challenge: design systems also need principles and guidance that help AI exercise good design judgment rather than simply generate technically valid interfaces.

A SHORT UPDATE ON DESIGNING FOR FOLDABLE DEVICES

Three years after the Google Pixel Fold, the iPhone Duo announcement brings a fresh look at designing for foldable devices. CSS media features, a Viewport Segments API, and a Device Posture API work only in Chromium browsers, with no sign yet of Safari support. Websites needn't adapt to two screens. A dual-screen design makes sense when an experience has two simultaneous contexts, such as an inbox beside an open message.

DO PRODUCT DESIGNERS NEED UI/UX SKILLS?

Product designers do need UI/UX skills, because product design spans research, wireframes, prototypes, testing, and developer collaboration, and UI/UX principles apply at nearly every stage. UI covers what users see, while UX covers whether the product works, and a beautiful app nobody can figure out still fails. Designers need not master every corner, but skills in research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing help them read user behavior accurately and keep decisions grounded.

THIS PACKAGING FOR READY-MADE DINNERS CAN TEACH YOU TO COOK BETTER

Center's identity for chef Daniel Humm's Riff turns ready-to-cook meal packaging into a lightweight cooking lesson, showing optional fresh ingredients alongside explanations of how each changes a dish's flavor. The visual system combines a chunky curved wordmark, 12 food-inspired colors, three contrasting typefaces, deliberately unstyled food photography, and a playful mascot called Dan the Pan. Packaging reinforces the idea of improvisation with cooking tips, recipe variations, and QR codes linking to Humm's cooking videos, positioning convenience food as a starting point for learning rather than a finished product.
