ANTHROPIC INTRODUCES CHEAPER, MORE POWERFUL, MORE EFFICIENT OPUS 4.5 MODEL

Anthropic has released its latest frontier model, Opus 4.5. The model brings improvements in coding performance and user experience. The Opus 4.5 API costs $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. Anthropic's developer platform now includes a new 'effort' parameter that allows developers to more precisely tune the balance between efficacy and token usage. Claude Code is now available in the desktop Claude apps.

INTRODUCING CLAUDE OPUS 4.5

Claude Opus 4.5 is the first model to exceed 80% on SWE-bench Verified. It achieves state-of-the-art results across coding, tool use, and reasoning benchmarks. The model is priced at $5/$25 per million tokens, down from previous Opus pricing. It includes a new "effort" parameter letting developers trade speed for capability, automatic context compression enabling unlimited conversation length, and expanded availability for Claude for Chrome and Claude for Excel.

LOAD TESTING: HOW MANY HTTP REQUESTS/SECOND CAN A SINGLE MACHINE HANDLE?

Load testing was performed on a single machine to determine how many HTTP requests per second it can handle, using a Java-based REST API, PostgreSQL, and DigitalOcean infrastructure. The tests were conducted on machines with varying CPU and memory configurations, showing that even a small machine could handle hundreds of requests per second. A medium machine could handle 500-1,000 RPS, while a large machine sustained 2,000-3,000 RPS.

SHADOWPAD MALWARE ACTIVELY EXPLOITS WSUS VULNERABILITY FOR FULL SYSTEM ACCESS

Threat actors are actively exploiting CVE-2025-59287, a critical deserialization RCE flaw in Microsoft WSUS (patched last month), to deploy ShadowPad malware with SYSTEM privileges. The attack chain uses PowerCat for initial shell access, then certutil/curl to download ShadowPad, which persists via DLL side-loading through a legitimate ELAN binary (ETDCtrlHelper.exe). Exploitation accelerated after public PoC release. Patch immediately and audit WSUS exposure.

BLUE ORIGIN TO BUILD A "SUPER HEAVY" ROCKET TO COMPETE WITH STARSHIP

Blue Origin plans to make a super-heavy version of its New Glenn system to rival SpaceX's Starship. Named the New Glenn 9x4, it will feature a larger payload fairing and be able to deliver 70 metric tons to Low Earth Orbit, 14 metric tons to Geosynchronous Orbit, and 20 metric tons to the Moon. Blue Origin plans to conduct launches using both the enhanced and super-heavy versions of its New Glenn rocket to improve performance and launch cadence.

BOY WITH RARE CONDITION AMAZES DOCTORS AFTER WORLD-FIRST GENE THERAPY

Hunter syndrome is an inherited condition that causes progressive damage to the body and brain. The effects are sometimes described as a type of childhood dementia, and patients with the disease usually die before the age of 20 in the most severe cases. Medical staff in Manchester have halted the disease in a three-year-old boy by altering his cells using gene therapy. It has only been a year since starting the treatment, but the boy appears to be developing normally.
