CURSOR MAKES DEVELOPERS LESS EFFECTIVE?

A study by METR found that developers using AI tools like Cursor took 19% longer to complete tasks, despite expecting a 24% speedup. This slowdown was attributed to increased time spent on promoting, waiting for the AI, reviewing its output, and IDE overhead, negating time saved on coding, research, and testing. However, the study showed that the learning curve for AI development tools is steep, with more experienced users potentially seeing productivity gains.

HOW ANTHROPIC TEAMS USE CLAUDE CODE

Anthropic's internal teams are using Claude Code to transform workflows, automate tasks, and bridge skill gaps, boosting productivity across various departments. The teams use Claude Code for tasks like debugging infrastructure, rapid prototyping, generating tests, synthesizing documentation, and even building complex applications in unfamiliar languages. This leads to faster feature implementation, improved code quality, better cross-functional collaboration, and lots of time savings across teams.

REACT SERVER COMPONENTS: HOW WE GOT HERE

In the context of web dev, Multi-Page Applications provide simplicity but have a poor user experience, while Single-Page Applications (SPAs) improve UX but introduce network management complexity and lost progressive enhancement. Frameworks like Remix attempt to restore progressive enhancement to SPAs, but still have compositional limitations. React Server Components are a big leap because they restore component-based composition, remove custom network management code, and combine the best features of previous approaches for simpler, more performant web apps.

INTEL CEO LETTER TO EMPLOYEES

In a letter to employees, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan announced Q2 2025 revenue exceeding expectations, but also big cost-cutting measures. These measures include a 15% workforce reduction, streamlining management, halting foundry projects in Germany and Poland, and consolidating assembly/test operations. Intel will refocus its foundry strategy on customer-driven demand, revitalizing the x86 ecosystem, and refine its AI strategy towards inference and agentic AI.
