A THOUSAND FEWER PATHS TO ROOT

OpenAI's autonomous security pipeline reproduced 1,724 Linux kernel vulnerabilities and generated exploits for 948 distinct local privilege escalation flaws at an API cost of $1.2 million. Agents handled discovery, runtime validation, exploit development, and candidate patches before human review and maintainer reporting. The research highlights why validation must check how an exploit succeeds, after some agents gained root through a different vulnerability than the one assigned.

CYBERATTACK ON FRENCH PLASMA STORES IS ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR BLOOD BOIL

Attackers compromised a refrigeration supplier and altered cold-room settings at France's Blood Establishment, changing temperatures from -30°C to 110°C. EFS monitoring detected the changes. Staff controlled or isolated affected units and moved plasma and samples elsewhere. No blood products were lost. The incident follows European attacks on supermarket refrigeration, including defrost cycles that spoiled food. CERT-FR had urged remediation of vulnerabilities in Danfoss AK-SM and AK-SC controllers.

MASTERCARD AND OPENAI BUILD THE PAYMENT RAILS FOR AI AGENTS

Mastercard formalized a strategic partnership with OpenAI anchored by a four-product agentic commerce stack addressing payment trust, agent trust, ecosystem trust, and merchant discoverability. The four products are Agent Pay (tokenized payments for AI agents), Verifiable Intent (buyer authorization capture), Agentic Trust Intelligence (bank and merchant risk scoring for AI-initiated transactions), and Agent Connect (merchant discovery by AI agents). Shopify's Shop Pay is among the first live deployments. Mastercard is betting on network tokens over one-time virtual card numbers as the core primitive. Visa, Stripe, and PayPal are building parallel infrastructure. Holiday shopping is expected to be the first high-volume stress test for agentic payment rails at scale.

IOS 27.3 AND MACOS 27.3 ADD VERTICAL TABS, ADAPTIVE DARK MODE, AND MORE TO SAFARI

Apple is introducing vertical tabs in Safari's developer betas across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, with tabs displayed as compact icons in a left sidebar that can expand to show website titles. A new Adaptive Dark Mode can automatically generate dark versions of websites that lack native support, either on demand or through a persistent preference. Siri AI can also organize, sort, move, and close tabs, with broader awareness of webpage content planned for a future update.

CANVA TO CUT MORE THAN 1000 JOBS IN ‘HARDEST MOMENT' OF ITS HISTORY

Canva is restructuring 1,271 roles, affecting 22 percent of its workforce, after its growth slowed this year for the first time in a decade. Chief executive Melanie Perkins called it the hardest moment in Canva's thirteen-year history, announcing a merged product organization with fewer management layers. Departing staff receive at least six months' salary, and the cuts follow Canva slashing its own valuation to US$31 billion.

THE STACKS PROJECT, FORMALIZED IN LEAN

Axiom has released a Lean formalization of the entire Stacks Project. The Stacks project is an open-source reference that lays the foundation of modern algebraic geometry. The release is the largest integrated, reusable library of formalized mathematics ever built. It makes the full mathematical development of the Stacks Project available as a single, machine-checked library that researchers and AI agents can import from directly into new formal proofs.
