Participants performed 10.2% better when they worked with both AI and a colleague, compared with 9.6% better with AI alone and 6.3% better with a colleague alone. They were also roughly 3x more likely to rank among the top performers according to expert evaluations. The benefits disappeared when teammates had the same skills, suggesting that complementary expertise helps people and AI work together more effectively.
