BOUNCY CASTLE CVE-2026-71885 HARVESTED THE CREDENTIAL BINDING THAT AUTHENTICATES AGENT-TO-AGENT CHANNELS

A critical vulnerability in Bouncy Castle for Java versions before 1.86 lets attackers spoof legitimate participants and decrypt messages within Messaging Layer Security groups. Improper certificate validation in the protocol implementation lets threat actors bypass core security objectives by presenting arbitrary credentials. Developers must upgrade to version 1.86 to enforce cryptographic binding between end-entity certificates and LeafNode signature keys.

ROUNDCUBE WEBMAIL SQL INJECTION VULNERABILITY CVE-2026-48842 UNDER ACTIVE EXPLOITATION

Unauthenticated attackers are actively exploiting a pre-authentication SQL injection vulnerability in Roundcube Webmail versions 1.6.0 through 1.6.15 and 1.7.0 to execute arbitrary database commands and access sensitive data. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-48842, resides in the built-in virtuser_query plugin. Administrators must immediately update to versions 1.6.16 or 1.7.1, or disable the vulnerable plugin.

REGISTERED BUT NOT ROUTED: WHAT A GLOBAL AUDIT OF IPV6 SAYS ABOUT DEPLOYMENT

Researchers conducted a global audit comparing IPv6 registration records from Regional Internet Registries against live BGP routing tables and the IPv6 Hitlist project. They found that while 92.5 percent of registered IPv6 netblocks appear in live routing, only 79.4 percent of the underlying address space does, revealing a large gap concentrated in unannounced legacy allocations and carrier-grade NAT deployments. Furthermore, cross-checking against the IPv6 Hitlist project identified 28.1 million genuinely distinct, confirmed-live hosts, highlighting a massive amount of unrouted and unmonitored address space worldwide.

A NEW CROP OF SOLAR PANELS IS THE US' BEST HOPE OF CATCHING CHINA

Tandem solar is a new technology that adds second and third layers of material on solar panels to convert more of the Sun's radiance into electricity. Several companies plan to start selling panels commercially soon. The panels can generate 25% more energy than current available devices. Successful adoption of the technology will allow the world to meet the rapidly rising demand for electricity with less land and roof area.

ETHEREUM FOUNDATION LAUNCHES ZKAPI FOR PRIVATE API ACCESS

The Ethereum Foundation released zkAPI, a zero-knowledge protocol that lets users access paid APIs without exposing their identity, counterparty, or consumption patterns to any intermediary. Users deposit ETH into a vault, generate a ZK proof, and receive a fixed quota of API access, with payment metadata abstracted away so no on-chain or off-chain trace links usage back to the caller. OA-chat is live with zkAPI integrated, and the design generalizes to any gated API resource beyond AI inference. Prior unlinkable inference schemes leaked payment trails - zkAPI closes that gap by separating payment metadata from identity at the protocol layer.
