KLARNA'S STOCK CRASH SHOWS THE PRICE OF BEING A SMALL FISH IN A BIG POND

Klarna's shares plunged nearly 25% after it warned that weak consumer spending in Germany would weigh on full-year revenue, despite ample signs of deteriorating demand in Europe's largest economy. Klarna's US listing may be working against it, since the company is relatively small and underfollowed in American markets, whereas a European listing could have brought more index inclusion, passive flows, and investor familiarity with its core markets.

THE SWOT OF AI IN BANKING

Financial institutions have vast stores of customer data that could power more efficient operations, personalized services and autonomous financial agents, but legacy systems, fragmented information and limited explainability remain major weaknesses. The opportunity is to shift from simply responding to customers to actively managing their financial lives, while cybercrime, infrastructure concentration and synchronized machine-driven decisions introduce systemic risks. The biggest threat may be losing the customer relationship altogether if third-party agents begin selecting financial products and providers on users' behalf.

REVOLUT LAUNCHES DEDICATED AI RESEARCH DIVISION AND PROPRIETARY FOUNDATION MODEL

Revolut Research is a dedicated AI division behind PRAGMA, Revolut's proprietary financial foundation model developed with NVIDIA to power credit risk, fraud detection, platform operations, and personalized recommendations. The company says early tests show significant gains over legacy models and is betting that its data from 80 million customers across 40+ markets can create a compounding intelligence advantage over banks relying on third-party AI tools.

COINBASE LAUNCHES TOKENIZED STOCKS ON BASE FOR NON-US USERS

Coinbase launched tokenized versions of Nvidia, Apple, Meta, and Alphabet on Base, giving eligible non-US users 24/7 access to transferable, self-custodied equities backed by underlying shares held through Alpaca. The launch combines Coinbase issuance and settlement with Chainlink pricing and DeFi integrations across roughly 50 apps, but introduces new operational wrinkles around frozen 24/5 price feeds, KYC-dependent redemption and voting rights, and jurisdictional restrictions.
