THE NEW APPLE TV COULD HAVE A BUILT-IN MIC AND A REMOTE WITH A SPEAKER

Apple's next Apple TV will reportedly include a microphone for hands-free Siri commands, letting users control playback and smart-home devices without reaching for the remote. A speaker in the redesigned remote could sound an alert to help locate it when misplaced. The refresh is also expected to feature an A19 chip supporting Siri AI and begin shipping October 30 alongside an updated HomePod Mini.

GOOGLE'S NEW PLAYGROUND AIMS TO MAKE IT EASY TO VIBE CODE A GAME RIGHT IN YOUR BROWSER

Google launched Playground, a browser-based platform where anyone can build and share games by chatting with AI, with no coding experience required. Powered by Gemini, Nano Banana, and Lyria, it lets users keep refining a game, then keep it private or publish it to the Explore gallery. Playground launched free in the US for users 18 and older, with Google One AI subscribers getting early access to creation and a higher token limit.

GAMMA REVAMPS PRESENTATION PLATFORM TO MAKE OUTPUT LOOK MORE HUMAN

Gamma 5 rebuilds the presentation platform with a redesigned editor, a more capable AI agent, and more visual styles to fight the "AI smell" of repetitive layouts. The agent works in a sandbox with automated layout checks, while about 20 connectors pull in sources such as Slack and Granola. Co-founder Jon Noronha says some users cut presentation time from eight to 10 hours down to about 30 minutes.

FIRST AI CAME AND SCOOPED UP YOUR ART. NOW IT'S SCOOPED UP ADOBE

ArtCraft is a two-person GitHub project that appears to use AI-generated code to recreate large parts of Adobe's Creative Cloud functionality, including alternatives to Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, and Premiere. Its rapid development demonstrates how AI coding tools could allow tiny teams to reproduce increasingly sophisticated professional software that previously required huge organizations to build. The development creates an ironic reversal for Adobe, whose own embrace of generative AI has faced criticism from creatives concerned about AI systems reproducing their work.

THE NEW BIG BALL OF MUD: WHY AGENTIC AI SYSTEMS TURN FRAGILE

With AI making building nearly free, vibe architects without technical backgrounds grow agentic systems piecemeal into fragile "big balls of mud." Study participants kept throwaway drafts, bolted-on features, and let the AI patch files until they could no longer locate or recreate their own systems. Keeping global, local, and ambient context separate lets builders direct a rebuild instead of relying on the AI as sole navigator.

ON GIVING FLUID INTERFACES AN ANCHOR

Interfaces that continuously reshape themselves in response to context, AI, or user intent risk becoming difficult to understand because people lose the stable landmarks they use to build a mental model of a product. Keeping frequently used action buttons anchored while content expands gives users a predictable place to click or tap as the interface changes. Fluid interfaces therefore work best when adaptability is balanced with enough permanence for users to understand where they are, what changed, and how to get back.

DESIGNING MICHELANGELUS

Michelangelus is a new serif typeface inspired by Michelangelo's handwritten manuscripts, architectural work, and carved inscriptions, created by Studiogusto for the 400th anniversary of the consecration of St. Peter's Basilica. Rather than reproducing his handwriting literally, the designers studied its rhythm, spacing, proportions, distinctive forms, and hidden structural order, even spending a week refining the lowercase “g” derived from his signature. The resulting family contains more than 2,000 glyphs across regular, italic, bold, and bold italic styles and will become available across Microsoft 365 later this year.
