NASA's Probe Explorers are a new line of observatories intended to do more science for less money. The project aims to seek a better balance between the smaller Explorer missions and multibillion-dollar flagships. NASA announced on Wednesday it was moving forward with the first of the Explorers, PRIMA (Probe far-Infrared Mission for Astrophysics). PRIMA will observe the universe in faint, far-infrared light in a range of wavelengths between 24 and 235 micrometers. NASA intends to launch the telescope in 2033.
