SKIP THE TOOLS, MAKE THE OUTCOMES

AI creates opportunities to skip traditional tools and deliver the outcomes those tools were originally designed to help people achieve. An AI-powered newsroom called Exposit discovered that users overwhelmingly preferred asking for a topic and receiving a personalized, up-to-date report instead of navigating headlines, categories, and search interfaces. This “outcome first, tool second” approach suggests a useful product design question: whether a new AI experience needs another interface at all, or can simply produce what people came for.
