THE INPUT STACK ON LINUX (6 HOUR READ)

Input handling on Linux can be divided into two parts, separated by a common layer. Kernel-level handling deals with what happens in the kernel and how events are exposed to user-space. User-space handling includes the user-space device manager and hardware database for device management and setup, the libinput library for general input and other libraries such as XKB for keyboards, and Widgets, X Server, X11 window managers, and Wayland compositors. The middle exposed layer includes the event abstraction subsystem, devtmpfs for device nodes, sysfs for kernel objects and device attributes, and procfs for an introspection interface of the input core.

OPENAI API USER DATA EXPOSED IN MIXPANEL BREACH, CHATGPT UNAFFECTED

A breach of Mixpanel's analytics platform exposed OpenAI API user metadata, including names, emails, location data, internal user/org IDs, and browser information. No passwords, API keys, chat logs, or payment data were compromised, and ChatGPT users were unaffected. OpenAI immediately removed Mixpanel from production and notified impacted users. It is conducting a broader vendor security audit. This incident highlights third-party vendor risk. Organizations should inventory analytics tools that receive user data, enforce data minimization policies with vendors, have API users enable MFA, and monitor for targeted phishing using the exposed metadata.

ETHEREUM LIFTS BLOCK GAS LIMIT TO 60M AHEAD OF FUSAKA

Ethereum validators have collectively raised the L1 block gas limit from 45M to 60M, roughly doubling base-layer transaction capacity versus a year ago. The change was enabled by protocol safeguards (EIP-7623), client optimizations, and testnet evidence that the network can safely handle larger blocks. It lands just days before the Fusaka hard fork, which introduces PeerDAS and further rollup throughput gains.

ALIBABA RELEASES AI GLASSES IN RARE CONSUMER GADGET FORAY

Alibaba's Quark S1 glasses, powered by the company's Qwen AI models, are now available in China, with international versions coming next year. The glasses feature built-in translucent displays that superimpose contextual information on the wearer's view of their surroundings. They are equipped with cameras, bone conduction microphones, and swappable batteries rated to last 24 hours. Alibaba has also released a cheaper version of the glasses that doesn't have the displays.

STUDY CLAIMS TO PROVIDE FIRST DIRECT EVIDENCE OF DARK MATTER

The first evidence of dark matter may have been discovered. Scientists have spotted a pattern of gamma rays that appears to match the shape of the dark matter halo that spreads out in a sphere from the heart of the galaxy. It closely matches the properties of gamma-ray radiation predicted to be emitted by dark matter. More work is needed to rule out other astrophysical processes and background emissions that could explain the signals.
