OPENAI ANNOUNCES SORA 2 AND AN AI VIDEO AND AUDIO APP THAT ALLOWS FOR USER ‘CAMEOS'

OpenAI's Sora 2 has upgraded photorealistic video capabilities. It allows users to generate cameos of themselves and others in videos - this feature will require users to make a one-time video and audio recording of themselves to verify their identity. The company has launched a new Sora app, which has a social platform for users to share, remix, and discover AI-generated videos. The social platform will have an algorithmic feed that displays videos tailored to users' interests based on who they interact with and the topics they might engage with.

EFFECTIVE CONTEXT ENGINEERING FOR AI AGENTS

Context engineering focuses on optimizing the tokens within an AI model's limited context window for the best outcomes. Good context engineering means curating and maintaining the most relevant information for each inference, including system instructions, tools, data, and message history. Messages can experience "context rot" and lose focus with excessive or irrelevant information, so agents like Claude Code use compaction, note-taking, and sub-agents for better context management.

CISA SOUNDS ALARM ON CRITICAL SUDO FLAW ACTIVELY EXPLOITED IN LINUX AND UNIX SYSTEMS

CISA added CVE-2025-32463, a critical sudo vulnerability with a CVSS score of 9.3, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog due to evidence of active exploitation in the wild. The flaw affects sudo versions before 1.9.17p1 and allows local attackers to leverage the --chroot option to execute arbitrary commands as root, even without sudoers file permissions. Federal agencies must patch by October 20, while organizations should immediately update sudo to version 1.9.17p1 or later to prevent privilege escalation attacks.

CHAINLINK AND SWIFT PILOT TOKENIZED FUND WORKFLOWS WITH UBS

Chainlink and Swift have launched a UBS Tokenize pilot that uses Swift messages and Chainlink's Runtime Environment to trigger onchain subscription and redemption workflows for tokenized funds without requiring banks to replace legacy infrastructure. The system builds on prior Project Guardian work and uses Chainlink's Digital Transfer Agent standard, with Swift handling ISO 20022-compliant messaging. Coming days after Chainlink's AI-driven pilot for corporate actions, the collaboration positions Swift's global network and Chainlink's smart contracts as a plug-and-play gateway for the $100T+ fund industry to adopt tokenization at scale.

SCIENTISTS MAKE EMBRYOS FROM HUMAN SKIN DNA FOR FIRST TIME

Scientists at the Oregon Health and Science University have created early-stage human embryos by manipulating DNA taken from people's skin cells, then fertilizing them with sperm. The technology could overcome infertility due to old age or disease. It could even allow same-sex couples to have a genetically related child. The technique still needs significant refinement before a fertility clinic could even consider using it, which could take a decade.

EXAMPLES ARE THE BEST DOCUMENTATION

Technical documentation is mostly aimed at people deeply immersed in the ecosystem. However, many developers have to juggle a lot of 'worlds' in their heads daily. It takes a lot of mental energy to restore context and understand what is going on when jumping between projects, languages, and frameworks. Examples are great because a lot of developers look at docs simply because they need to quickly find out how to do something. Tutorials are often helpful, not because of the walkthrough, but because they contain examples.
