Apple is considering potentially bidding for artificial intelligence startup Perplexity AI to address the need for more AI talent and technology. The internal discussions are at an early stage and may not lead to an offer. Acquiring Perplexity would help Apple develop an AI-based search engine, which could help it cope with the potential loss of its longstanding arrangement with Google. Meta tried to buy Perplexity earlier this year, but the companies failed to reach an agreement.
