BRUTALLY HONEST CAREER ADVICE TO MY YOUNGER SELF

It's normal to feel lost, but focusing on consistent action is more important than having a perfect long-term plan. Take risks, connect with others, surround yourself with inspiring people, and document your journey to attract opportunity and build resilience. Don't let insecurity or the opinions of others hold you back. Instead, focus on doing work you love, and remember that patience and positive self-talk are important to long-term success.

IMPROVING OKRS

To improve OKRs, make sure that objectives clearly describe desired outcomes using a "truth statement" format without numerical targets. Define key results as measurable evidence that the objective has been achieved, focusing on outcomes rather than activities. Prioritize a small number of OKRs that align horizontally across the organization and explicitly balance change-focused OKRs with metrics (like KPIs) that track the ongoing health of the business.

Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the web, is concerned about its current state, which is characterized by centralized power, erosion of individual control over data, and harmful societal impacts. He believes the web has strayed from its original intent of fostering collaboration, creativity, and compassion. To counter this, he advocates for breaking down data silos, supporting a new generation of innovators building a human-centered web, and embracing initiatives like the Solid Protocol that prioritize individual data ownership.

REDIS ADOPTS DUAL SOURCE-AVAILABLE LICENSING

Redis has announced a change to its licensing model, moving away from the BSD license to dual licensing under the Redis Source Available License and the Server Side Public License. This change prevents cloud providers from offering Redis as a service without collaboration or contributing back to Redis development. Existing developers and users of the Redis community edition will see little change and can continue to utilize Redis under permissive terms.
