EXTENDING WEB APPLICATIONS WITH WEBASSEMBLY AND PYTHON

This article discusses how Python programs can be run within an application that uses a WebAssembly runtime, allowing for bi-directional communication between the two. WebAssembly is a sandboxed environment for extending applications, allowing for secure and portable code to run within the same process as the main application. Python can be interpreted by a WebAssembly module, and this article presents a sample application that guides developers on how to implement bindings for bi-directional communication between the WebAssembly host and the Python code.

BINANCE SLAMS US CRYPTO CRACKDOWN AND MAKES BID FOR UK OVERSIGHT

Binance is apparently struggling to operate in the US due to increased regulatory scrutiny. Its chief strategy officer, Patrick Hillmann, expressed the company's interest in being regulated in the UK, despite past clashes with London-based regulators. Binance has faced multiple lawsuits from US regulators, including the CFTC and the DOJ. While it is difficult to operate in the US now with its unclear regulatory framework, Hillmann believes the US will eventually follow Europe’s lead.

MODELS

This paper systematically evaluates methods for generating images from diffusion models and their benefits for data augmentation in downstream tasks. The study reveals that personalizing diffusion models towards target data is effective, but using the training data of the diffusion model alone through a simple nearest neighbor retrieval procedure results in stronger downstream performance, highlighting the potential and limitations of diffusion models in data augmentation.
