DESIGN SYSTEM FOUNDATIONS

Summary from the TLDR Design newsletter

Any team producing designed outputs already has a design system, which turns the work into incremental improvement rather than a build from zero. Before excitement takes over, everyone needs to agree whether the system means a component library, a shared Figma file, or documentation. Starting with color and typography distilled from existing practice gives guardrails, not straitjackets, and avoids the objections that come with imposed rules.
