Training an AI model fundamentally requires lots and lots of examples of something being done correctly. Creating this data for training robots is expensive, and companies need a lot of data to train competent models. Large language models showed the benefits of scale when training models. Researchers are now working hard to gather enormous amounts of robot task training data in the hopes of seeing the same sort of trends with robotic capabilities.
