FOUNDER BRIEFING: GEMINI 4 ARGON LAUNCH

Google Cloud is hosting an exclusive briefing for startup founders [4] and technical leaders following the launch of Gemini 4 Argon. Join the Google DeepMind team for an inside look [4] at the model's newest capabilities and practical startup applications. The session covers: * EXECUTIVE BREAKDOWN: A technical recap of the latest updates and performance gains. * FOUNDER USE CASES: Where DeepMind sees Argon delivering unfair advantages for early-stage products. * GETTING STARTED FAST: Architecture patterns, developer resources, and lightning onboarding tips. * DIRECT ACCESS: Open, live Q&A with the Google DeepMind engineering team. Sessions run November 4 (Americas/Europe) and November 5 (APAC).

TESLA'S NEW ROADSTER TAKES FLIGHT AFTER NEARLY A DECADE OF DELAYS

Tesla unveiled its second-generation Roadster sports car on Thursday by having the vehicle launch itself up a curved ramp into a controlled landing. It later leapt over five other Tesla vehicles while twisting in the air. The car is scheduled to enter production in 2028. Tesla has yet to release a price tag. The Roadster can go from a stop to 60 miles an hour in about one second, and it has a top speed of over 230 miles an hour.

META UNVEILS MUSE SPARK OPEN, THE NEW TOP US OPEN WEIGHTS MODEL — AND IT RUNS ON TWO PAIRED MAC DESKTOPS

Muse Spark Open is an 816-billion-parameter open-weight model that can run on relatively affordable consumer hardware. Meta's benchmark tests used a pair of M5 Ultra Mac Studios with an unknown memory configuration. The model uses a mixture-of-experts design and activates 42 billion parameters for each token. It supports a context of up to 1 million tokens and accepts text, images, video, and audio, but only outputs text.

BRINGING THE MAGIC: GOOGLE BREAKS OPEN A BOTTLENECK IN QUANTUM COMPUTING

Google Quantum AI has demonstrated that 'magic state cultivation' works in practice on its Willow processor. Magic states help researchers create the operations they need for going beyond classical computing. Creating high-quality, error-corrected magic states is incredibly resource-heavy. This post details how Google Quantum AI created a magic state cultivation protocol that achieved a 40-fold reduction in errors. The breakthrough is a crucial step towards scaling up quantum computing to practical use.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR ROBOT

Training an AI model fundamentally requires lots and lots of examples of something being done correctly. Creating this data for training robots is expensive, and companies need a lot of data to train competent models. Large language models showed the benefits of scale when training models. Researchers are now working hard to gather enormous amounts of robot task training data in the hopes of seeing the same sort of trends with robotic capabilities.

NEW TREND OF BUILDING “INTERNAL VIBE-CODING APPS” AT TECH COMPANIES

Tech companies are building internal vibe-coding tools for non-engineers. It's not that complicated, it gets higher adoption than vendor products, and it helps build out more AI intra expertise in-house. Building an internal vibe-coding tool is a tiny investment that can result in better, more custom tools than with vendor products, and companies don't have to wait on vendors to build what's needed. It's also a lot safer to expose internal data sources to internal tools.

USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO REVERSE ENGINEER HARDWARE

Developers are using Claude to debug hardware issues. AIs can read thousands of lines of USB capture, notice sequence repeats with one byte changing, make suggestions on what that byte means, and write the tests to confirm its suggestions. A human is still required to decide what to build and check that the fix runs on real hardware, but AI takes away a lot of the slog. The post includes a link to a harness with a small set of tools that help with reverse engineering Linux drivers.

HOW CODEX HAPPENED

Codex started as a scrappy effort to build an AI software engineer. The team building it had launched a version in the cloud, but it didn't find product-market fit. OpenAI took the project and made it the centerpiece of its comeback. This post tells the inside story of how Codex was created.

COREWEAVE CREDIT DEFAULT SWAPS HIT DISTRESS LEVELS AS INVESTORS SOUR ON AI DEBT

CoreWeave has taken on more than $51 billion of debt and obligations to finance its AI infrastructure buildout. Stock and bond investors are now showing signs of being concerned about AI overspending and debt levels. Yields on CoreWeave debt continue to climb. The spread on its five-year credit default swaps has soared. No one is questioning whether demand for CoreWeave's services is real, but the cash flow needs to arrive to justify all of the capex spending.
