AI has accelerated engineering at Anthropic to the point where deciding what deserves to be built is becoming a greater constraint than implementing it, pushing designers closer to production code and working prototypes. Designers routinely build their own tools, generate interactive variations using Anthropic's design system, and collaborate through smaller, more frequent critiques and working demos rather than lengthy specifications. Technical fluency is increasingly useful, but Anthropic also values designers who continually reinvent their workflows, have a point of view about where software is heading, and can move fluidly between strategic direction and hands-on making.
