GITLAB PATCHES CVSS 10.0 FLAW THAT COULD LET UNAUTHENTICATED USERS RUN SERVER CODE

GitLab fixed CVE-2026-97229, a CVSS 10.0 integer overflow vulnerability in regex validation for CI/CD configurations. In certain conditions, an unauthenticated user could execute arbitrary code on a GitLab server. The fixes are included in CE/EE versions 19.2.8, 19.3.5, and 19.4.2. The release also addresses high-severity XSS, authorization, and response-cache poisoning vulnerabilities.

ANNOUNCING AWS LAMBDA WEB FUNCTIONS

AWS Lambda Web Functions is a new form factor that runs standard HTTP web applications without rewriting code into an event handler. Developers can deploy existing Node.js servers built with frameworks like Express or Next.js, and the service automatically handles scaling and multi-region distribution. Each execution environment handles up to 128 concurrent requests, and billing is based on active CPU time rather than total duration. It is available today in five regions.

HOW ANTHROPIC'S DYNAMIC WORKFLOWS COORDINATE CLAUDE AGENTS

Splitting a task among several AI agents creates another job: deciding who does what, passing information between them, and checking their results. Anthropic's dynamic workflows let Claude write the program that manages those steps. An October 12 demonstration assigned stock tickers to separate agents, then reviewed their findings before producing a report. The presenters said this found more detail but cost much more than using one agent. Developers can set a session spending limit, but the running model does not know that budget.

THE DEATH OF THE INTERFACE

David Marcus, who led Meta's M assistant and Libra and now runs Lightspark, argues that AI models and stablecoin law have finally arrived together, so apps, websites, and buttons will give way to agents you simply talk to. Payments today assume a human in the loop (checkout pages, texted codes, fraud, and dispute flows), so money must stop moving through a UI. Stablecoins are no longer a standalone category. To be useful, they need fast settlement networks, embedded wallets, fiat connectivity, and card networks, which he calls “headless money,” a simple API that agents can use to move value anywhere, 24/7, with revocable spending limits and clear liability for mistakes. A few payment-stack companies will be worth hundreds of billions, but the companies running the winning agents will earn far more, since payment stacks earn only 1 to 300 basis points.

META'S TIKTOK AD BAN TURNS PLATFORM RIVALRY INTO A TRAFFIC WAR

Brands that find creators on TikTok and then use Meta's targeting to reach a wider audience may lose that route, since Meta reportedly now rejects third-party ads that send people to TikTok and other ByteDance properties. The ban took effect October 8 in seven markets, including the US and Canada, and also covers ByteDance's own ad buying on Facebook and Instagram. Campaigns that run across both platforms may now need Meta-native destinations, neutral websites, or separate creative and measurement for each platform.

SPACEX PLAN TO LAUNCH 456 STARSHIPS A YEAR IN TEXAS UNDER REVIEW

SpaceX plans to perform as many as 456 launches and 912 landings at its Texas facility each year. The company's CEO, Elon Musk, has been open about the company's intent to launch Starship as rapidly as possible in the future. He has claimed that, in less than a decade, SpaceX will be able to launch Starship more than once every hour. SpaceX recently announced plans to invest as much as $100 billion to build a massive launch site in southern Louisiana to support rapid Starship launches.
