Ecosystem design pushes past the product boundary, shaping the conditions and capabilities people need to succeed on a platform rather than the interface itself. Integrations, partnerships, marketplaces, developer platforms, community development, and corporate development are the six surfaces where a product becomes a world other people build on. Five practices follow: design the whole customer loop, treat third parties as users with business models, build trust, tend community, and treat docs as a product.
