Frustrated by the overuse of car touch screens, the author developed a rotary dial with haptic feedback for climate control, allowing intuitive adjustments while minimizing interactions. Through experimentation, they refined design principles for haptic interfaces and concluded that a two-function rotary dial, paired with automation, offered the best balance of usability and control.
