INCONSISTENT CONSISTENCY WITHIN DESIGN SYSTEMS

articles.redesigningdesign.systems7 min read

Summary from the TLDR Design newsletter

The backbone of design systems consists of coded components, design libraries, design tokens, and guidance documents, which ensure visual, behavioral, and semantic consistency. However, consistency outside the product regarding the user's ecosystem is also possible. Problems can result when the user's ecosystem is unbalanced against internal consistency, especially for systems still at an early stage of maturity.
