Today's crypto networks pass value through instead of compounding it, but once someone figures out how to retain and reinvest value the way a great business does, tokens will become equity in all but name.

INSIDE ELON MUSK'S $1.25 TRILLION AI AND SPACE MEGAMERGER

SpaceX and xAI signed a merger agreement at the end of last month. Merging the two companies is a level of risk-taking and ambition that is novel even for Elon Musk. It is a bet on Musk's plan for the convergence of AI and space - a wager on unproven technology deployed at a vast scale. SpaceX representatives have confirmed that the company plans to go public this summer.

CHINA IS RUNNING THE EV PLAYBOOK ON HUMANOID ROBOTS — AND IT'S WORKING

Nearly 90% of all humanoid robots sold globally last year were Chinese. The humanoid robot industry is still in its infancy, but China's progress will potentially lock it into a commanding position. Its early advantage is due to a combination of policy support, public investment, a mature supply chain, and advancements made in AI software and hardware. The global market for humanoid robots in 2035 is estimated to grow to $38 billion.

GOOGLE HINTS AT BIG AIRDROP EXPANSION FOR ANDROID “VERY SOON”

Google is expanding AirDrop support to the rest of the Android ecosystem this year. Currently, only Google Pixel 10 devices can initiate an AirDrop session with Apple devices. AirDrop support allows Android devices to send files to Apple devices without downloading third-party apps. Google tends to time its Android ecosystem updates with Pixel Drops, and the next one of those is expected in March.

DEATH OF SOFTWARE. NAH

Wall Street tends to run in herds, and the past couple of weeks have seen the herd collectively conclude that software is somehow dead. This is nonsense. There will be more software than ever before. AI-enabled or AI-centric software is simply moving up the stack of what a product is. Domain experience will become more important than it is today because every domain will become vastly more sophisticated than it is now.

AGENTIC ENGINEERING

Agentic engineering is a professional term that describes what is actually happening: the engineer orchestrates AI agents as they act as an architect, reviewer, and decision maker. It is a serious engineering discipline that involves autonomous agents. The term definitely sounds better than 'vibe coding' in professional settings. Agentic engineering disproportionately benefits senior engineers who understand system design, security patterns, and performance tradeoffs. They know what good code looks like, so they can efficiently review and correct AI output.

LLM-based reasoning is both powerful and flexible. However, there is likely still room to make the recipe even simpler. There are also still more gains to be had by understanding all the plays in which thinking behavior can be found. The extra reasoning data generated over recent years may help further train models to reason better through previously unviable methods.

OPENCLAW IS WHAT APPLE INTELLIGENCE SHOULD HAVE BEEN

Mac Minis are selling out everywhere because people are using them to run OpenClaw, an open source framework for local AI agents that has become a killer app for Mac hardware. The rush shows that there is a clear demand for agents and automation, and Apple is getting the hardware revenue from it. However, it's missing out on the platform revenue - Apple could have created its own native agent, but this would likely have caused significant legal issues.

DATA CENTERS IN SPACE MAKES NO SENSE

Data centers in space face massive challenges such as radiation, cooling, latency, and launch costs. There are other fundamental issues that make them unfeasible: competing in the market would require launching hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of satellites into space, and satellites can't be upgraded at scale. Data centers in space only make sense if they are cost-effective relative to normal data centers. The idea makes less and less sense with every improvement in normal energy production.

AV RIDESHARE FLEET SIZING: WHY THE OPTIMUM IS JUST SHY OF PEAK

The optimal fleet size for automatic vehicles is not peak demand, but it's also not average. The economic optimum is 98-99% demand coverage for most operators. Oversizing fleets destroys pricing power faster than it increases utilization. AV unit economics only work with aggressive off-peak price differentiation.

SAM ALTMAN REVEALS WHY OPENAI IS POISED TO MAKE THE BIGGEST BUSINESS BETS EVER

Sam Altman has a tendency to race ahead with ideas that excite him. While it is a tentpole of his success, it has gotten him in trouble in the past. Altman's itch to release products quickly is informed by his study of Xerox PARC, a legendary Silicon Valley research lab known for inventing the modern graphical user interface, laser printers, and the computer mouse, yet failing to commercialize any of them. Altman's reputation for shiny object syndrome can be harmful - OpenAI has been criticized in the past for releasing products without proper safety testing and for shipping features that prioritize engagement over psychological well-being.
