2025.09.04·theverge.com·2 min read·TLDR AI Rather than nationalizing AI companies or creating new international bodies, we should create publicly-traded AGI corporations with stricter government oversight. Foreign countries and citizens would purchase voting stock in companies like OpenAI, giving them financial stakes and board influence instead of racing to build competing systems.
2025.09.04·lesswrong.com·26 min read·TLDR AI While general methods that leverage computation seem more effective, data still plays a very important role. You need 40% more data when doubling GPUs, otherwise you're just lighting cash on fire. AI companies have already consumed the internet. The leaders who win the next era of AI will be scaling data itself. This could be done by architecting better use of limited data or alchemizing entirely new ultimate data universes.
2025.09.04·obviouslywrong.substack.com·15 min read·TLDR AI AI companies haven't actually done a good job of scaling up RL - they've scaled up to compute, but with low-quality data. While some argue that once these companies actually scale RL up, there will be a big jump in AI capabilities, it is more likely that progress will be the result of numerous hard-won advances. Higher quality RL environments will be a substantial part of what drives progress over the next year or two, and maybe beyond that, but significant improvements will come from several advances, not just scaling RL.

An eligibility checker is now live. The token features an unusual allocation structure with 85% dedicated to ecosystem development (10% for early users and builders, 75% for an ecosystem fund) and notably zero allocations for team or venture capital investors. Airdrop eligibility is determined through LXP and LXP-L campaign participation, requiring minimum thresholds of 2,000 LXP across seven tiers and 15,000 LXP-L, respectively. Claims will be available from September 10 to December 9. LINEA operates as an Ethereum Layer 2 solution featuring native yield on bridged assets and a dual burn mechanism for both ETH and LINEA tokens, positioning itself as complementary to rather than competitive with Ethereum's base layer.
Galaxy Digital (GLXY) has partnered with Superstate to become the first public company to tokenize SEC-registered equity directly on a major blockchain, launching tokenized shares on Solana through Superstate's Opening Bell platform. Unlike synthetic or wrapper models, these are actual Galaxy Digital Class A Common Stock with full shareholder rights, where Superstate serves as the SEC-registered transfer agent recording legal ownership onchain in real-time. The tokenized shares are immediately available to KYC'd investors and offer 24/7 market access with near-instant settlement, while Galaxy and Superstate are exploring regulatory-compliant integration with Automated Market Makers and DeFi platforms.
Kinetiq has evolved from Hyperliquid's liquid staking protocol into a financial hub that democratizes perpetual market deployment by solving HIP-3's prohibitive 1 million HYPE capital requirement through its Launch platform. The Launch service enables crowdfunded exchange deployment where multiple participants pool HYPE capital and receive exchange-specific LSTs that entitle holders to trading fee revenue, effectively turning them into "micro-exchange equity." Unlike traditional liquid staking protocols with capped yields, Kinetiq's value capture model is theoretically unlimited since each new exchange deployed through Launch creates an additional revenue stream for participants. With perpetual futures representing crypto's clearest product-market fit and monthly trading volumes growing from $35 billion to $6.4 trillion, Kinetiq has positioned itself as the coordination layer for scaling Hyperliquid's exchange infrastructure while offering institutional solutions and yield aggregation services.
Prediction markets represent the evolution of crypto speculation and will eventually replace memecoins and traditional betting platforms due to their superior structure of time-bounded speculation with clear resolution mechanisms. While speculation has always driven crypto adoption, current models like memecoins fail because "attention is ephemeral, tokens last forever," leading to inevitable downtrends once viral moments fade. Prediction markets solve this by containing speculative energy to relevant time periods and providing users with understandable win/loss outcomes, making them a more satisfying alternative to perpetual token speculation. The vision of a "prediction market supercycle" sees these platforms eventually monetizing all forms of attention and replacing casinos, sportsbooks, and news platforms, though this requires infrastructure improvements to bootstrap liquidity for smaller, long-tail events beyond just high-profile outcomes.
A viral chart suggested Solana had 8M daily DEX traders last November, but deeper analysis shows 80% of those wallets were one-day users, many tied to "fake holder" tactics by token devs to boost stats. In reality, active repeat traders peaked around 2M in January and sit closer to 500-600K today. The correction highlights how inflated wallet counts can distort perceptions of true onchain activity.
The Federal Reserve will host a payments innovation conference on October 21 covering stablecoins, tokenization, AI, and DeFi, signaling that digital assets are being treated as core to payment infrastructure. Apple is reportedly planning a Vision Air headset for 2027 that will be over 40% lighter and more than 50% cheaper than the $3,499 Vision Pro. Expected to ship around one million units, it could cost about $1,500, making it more accessible, though still pricier than rivals like Meta Quest 3. To reach that price, Apple may reduce features such as cameras, display resolution, or EyeSight, while aiming to preserve the Vision Pro experience.
Disney agreed to pay $10 million to settle FTC allegations that it violated children's privacy laws by incorrectly labeling cartoons on YouTube. The company left default "Not Made for Kids" labels on channels containing child-friendly content, such as "Frozen" and "Toy Story," which allowed for illegal data collection and targeted advertising to minors. Under the settlement, Disney must obtain parental consent for collecting children's data and create a review program for proper video labeling over the next decade.
The AirPods Max have long lacked wireless charging, but Mophie's new $149.95 Max Charging Stand offers a sleek solution. The stand uses a magnetic USB-C adapter with a weighted base to charge the headphones while displaying them, and it also works with AirPods Pro or other Qi devices. While expensive and limited to the latest USB-C AirPods Max, it's seen as a practical and elegant upgrade until Apple builds MagSafe directly into future models.
Prompting AI should be treated as a design act, combining creative briefing with conversation design rather than simple instruction-giving. The WIRE+FRAME framework provides structure for effective prompting: WIRE (Who/What, Input Context, Rules/Constraints, and Expected Output) covers essential elements, while FRAME (Flow, Reference Style, Ask for Clarification, Memory, and Evaluate/Iterate) adds refinement. This framework transforms vague requests into detailed briefs that produce structured, actionable results comparable to professional design deliverables.
2025.09.04·smashingmagazine.com·21 min read·TLDR Design Marvel's new Avengers: Doomsday logo, revealed at D23, has sparked a mixed reaction among fans. The design keeps the iconic Avengers emblem in grungy silver metal but adds a vivid green glow and matching “DOOMSDAY” text for extra impact. While some fans praised the update as bold and dynamic, others dismissed it as underwhelming or unnecessary, pointing out Marvel's habit of frequently tweaking its logos. With the film slated for May 2026, there's still time for more revisions, leaving the fandom divided but eager for what comes next.
Elon Musk's claim that AI has reached PhD-level intelligence but lacks common sense highlights the broader divide between techno-optimists and human-centered perspectives. Technology and society are inseparable hybrids, and rationality cannot exist without empathy. Engineers often operate in a “nature” bubble focused on code and data, while UX practitioners translate human needs into that world. Ignoring social and emotional dimensions risks creating technologies that work perfectly in theory but fail real people, making UX essential as a bridge between human complexity and technological precision.

As wellness-focused Gen Z drives a $5.6 trillion market, architects are redesigning buildings to actively support physical and mental health rather than merely house activities. Projects like Cologne's Valentyns workspace and London's The Round development integrate natural light, biophilic elements, air quality systems, and wellness amenities that have measurably improved occupant health. This shift extends to urban planning through concepts like the 15-minute city, where walkable neighborhoods and human-centered design create environments that promote both individual well-being and community connection.
Multi-agent AI systems use multiple specialized agents working together to deliver deeper, more contextual results, though this collaborative process can feel slower than traditional software. The perceived delay stems from behind-the-scenes reasoning and collaboration between agents, not inefficiency, requiring thoughtful user experience design to maintain trust and engagement. Organizations must rethink responsiveness standards, designing interfaces that make agent work visible, provide transparent feedback, and support natural multi-modal interactions to transform these systems from tools into collaborative teammates.
