Hosted runners or your own infra; any cloud, any OS, any chip; MCP, models and pipeline triggers for agentic development; your secrets and source code never leaving your hands.
DigitalOcean has added cache-aware routing to its Inference Router, letting the system account for the cost of breaking a warm prompt cache when deciding whether to switch models mid-session. The update pairs with two new controls: an explicit model affinity header that ties requests to a session, and a routing budget parameter that caps how much extra cost a model switch can incur.
AWS Glue 6.0 is now generally available in all AWS regions where Glue operates, with pricing 30% lower than previous versions. The release is built on Apache Spark 4.1, Python 3.13, and Scala 2.13, and includes full support for the Apache Iceberg v3 specification via Iceberg 1.11.0. A new VARIANT data type with shredding support lets teams store and query JSON, logs, and event data without flattening schemas. No API changes are required to use the new version.
Docker has made its Verified Publisher program self-serve, so software vendors can now apply directly through Docker Hub instead of going through a sales team. Approved publishers get a verified badge, prioritized search ranking, and access to analytics that identify which companies are pulling their images. The badge covers all content types on Docker Hub, including MCP servers, models, sandboxes, and agents. Current verified publishers include Google, Microsoft, AWS, Datadog, and Grafana Labs.
A July 23 Azure West US outage lasted about five hours after a networking repair triggered an unexpectedly broad device isolation. Contributing factors included flawed blast radius analysis, inadequate aggregate safety validation, misleading health signals, incomplete event logging, and rollback automation that depended on the disrupted connectivity.

AeroSpork is a fork of AeroSpace, an i3-style tiling window manager for macOS. It adds a settings GUI, notarized universal builds for both arm64 and x86_64, and a fix for monitor identity that uses CoreGraphics UUIDs instead of IOKit.
CISA's Binding Operational Directive 26-04 requires federal agencies to prioritize vulnerability remediation by actual risk rather than static severity scores. This post describes how Datadog's tools help teams identify and remediate the critical findings the directive targets.
AI agents acting as autonomous first responders may successfully resolve many routine incidents, but their ability to take operational actions also creates new failure modes when they encounter situations they cannot handle. The most dangerous scenario is an agent attempting remediation in an unexpected way, making an already complex outage worse before humans enter the loop and forcing responders to diagnose the combined behavior of the software system and the agent itself.
2026.08.24·surfingcomplexity.blog·4 min read·TLDR DevOps LLMs can make performance work cheaper to implement, but implementation cost is often not the main reason optimizations do not ship: teams may tolerate slower software, cut engineering budgets, deprioritize performance, or face larger costs in testing, migration, correctness, and long-term maintenance. AI-generated optimizations can also overfit benchmarks or introduce reliability problems, so faster code generation does not necessarily translate into faster production software.

President Donald Trump urged lawmakers to pass a “fair version” of the CLARITY Act as crypto executives met with the White House over remaining disputes, particularly ethics provisions tied to government officials' crypto interests. At the same time, the CFTC warned it could use existing authority to build its own crypto regulatory regime if Congress stalls, while the SEC proposed its first crypto-specific fundraising framework with new exemptions and a conditional safe harbor.
JPMorgan ended a banking relationship with Polymarket in October 2025 as prediction markets faced growing scrutiny from regulators over their resemblance to gambling. Polymarket pushed back on the characterization of the relationship, saying it continues to work closely with the bank across multiple entities and customer fund flows. The episode highlights the regulatory uncertainty surrounding the fast-growing prediction market sector, with platforms including Polymarket and Kalshi facing increased attention from state officials.
Testudo, a Lloyd's-backed startup, is offering coverage of up to $10 million for liabilities arising from generative AI, with annual premiums typically ranging from $10,000 to $20,000. Interest is emerging as financial institutions consider deploying tools that can interact with customers or execute transactions, although some vendors prefer to guarantee their own products and skeptics question whether a separate category of coverage is necessary.
Affirm has finally reached profitability after years of heavy investment and more than $2 billion in cumulative losses, validating Max Levchin's long-term strategy of building much of the company's technology and risk infrastructure in-house. That philosophy can be traced back to Levchin's experience fighting fraud at PayPal. The same operational discipline helped turn Affirm into a roughly $25 billion fintech company.
Foundation models alone cannot reliably “do the work” inside most businesses because real jobs require domain-specific workflows, deterministic software, permissions, semantics, human escalation, and continuous learning loops. There is a major opportunity for vertical SaaS incumbents and AI-native challengers to become the System of Action for their industries, potentially expanding software TAM by roughly 10x by capturing labor spend rather than just software budgets.
PayPal and Venmo have integrated with Illumia, Nelnet Campus Commerce, and TouchNet to let students and parents pay tuition directly through participating college payment portals. The move expands PayPal's campus strategy beyond peer-to-peer payments and athletics, giving Venmo and PayPal access to thousands of higher-education institutions through existing payments infrastructure.
Airwallex is using its recent $320 million Series H at an $11 billion valuation to expand beyond cross-border payments into autonomous finance, including T:0 for automated bookkeeping and Airi for agentic commerce. The company now serves more than 675,000 businesses with over $1 billion in annualized revenue, but president Lucy Liu says an IPO still depends on market conditions as Airwallex expands globally and navigates growing regulatory scrutiny in the US and Australia.
Ken Griffin said Citadel has shed more than 80% of the risk from the portfolio it acquired from Leopold Aschenbrenner's Situational Awareness, using more than 100 block trades representing over $4 billion in market value. Founders have long put in long hours in the name of building the next big thing, but AI agents are pushing this to the next level. AI agents' growing capabilities and the speed at which the models powering them are evolving are causing founders to work more and more as they fear missing out on precious hours of work. This is causing erratic sleep schedules, a struggle to focus on anything but work, and the feeling that, while the pace is unhealthy and unsustainable, they just can't stop.
The DOJ has spent close to a year on an antitrust probe of Andreessen Horowitz, and the subject is board seats like the ones your own investors hold. Regulators are looking at partners sitting on boards of AI companies that now compete, with Ben Horowitz at Databricks and Martin Casado at Fivetran named as examples. If firms respond by giving up seats or declining them, board composition, information rights, and term sheets change for anyone raising now. Nobody outside the probe knows what the underlying allegations are.
A semantic layer is a dictionary of definitions that agents and humans read from. It doesn't copy data, replace a warehouse, or move a single row of data. It sits on top of the data that exists and describes it. The semantic layer gives everyone a single place to read definitions from so that the team is on the same page. This post tells the story of how PostHog built a semantic layer into its context warehouse.
For most of the last two decades, building a custom alternative was rarely worth it. That's now changed - building something fitted specifically to your company is now cheap. However, what hasn't changed is risk, security, and total cost of ownership. The reasons to not build auth in-house are still the same as they always were.

Plenty of teams save money running open AI models on their own hardware, shrunk to fit. Someone on a forum tested those shrunken versions of one model and logged 44.8 terabytes of results. Same model, same question. Right answer on one graphics card, wrong answer split across two, right again across four. One common compression setting quietly broke the model's ability to call outside tools, while a slightly bigger one worked fine. A feature that flakes in production but sails through your demo may be a settings problem, not a code problem. Answers also drift deep into long documents.
