“Narrative debt” is the tension created when content raises a question, makes a promise, or opens a loop. The bigger the promise, the longer people will wait for the payoff. Small questions should be answered quickly, while larger ones can unfold over time. Avoid opening too many loops at once, which can make content feel scattered. Instead, keep a few strong questions open and pay them off at the right moments to maintain attention.
A study of 100 better-for-you drink buyers found a major retention problem, with 35% no longer regularly buying any of the five brands studied. Retention was stronger when a drink replaced something specific, like soda, rather than water or nothing. OLIPOP retained 65% of buyers who used it instead of soda, compared with 25% who replaced nothing. Liquid Death could similarly position itself as an alternative to beer in social settings. Brands should focus on the specific habit they're replacing while addressing barriers like packaging and distribution.
B2B marketers keep rediscovering that people follow people, but this is a fundamental media principle, not a LinkedIn tactic. Using Hollywood's star system as an analogy, companies should build audiences around recognizable employees rather than treat them as distribution channels. The most mature teams identify people worth building around. They develop repeatable content formats and create systems that make both the employee and company more valuable over time.

Brands across industries are using handmade aesthetics to signal humanity in an AI-saturated market. Think hand-drawn typography, imperfect textures, retro illustrations, and intentionally ‘rough' design. The trend is showing up in food, cleaning products, luxury hospitality, and even AI brands like Claude. However, when brands use these cues without meaning, they can feel generic and fail to stand out. Handmade elements work best when they fit the brand or concept.
Google lowered the follower threshold for its Search profiles, making the feature available to more brands and creators. YouTube, Instagram, and X accounts now qualify at 35K followers or subscribers, down from 100K. TikTok's threshold dropped from 300K to 100K. Google also added new Search Console reporting on search terms, rankings, and search volume. On YouTube, channel managers will now receive alerts for copyright claims and removal requests, giving teams more visibility into issues that could affect content.
Use a believable “mistake” to earn a second email. Send an initial email with something intentionally wrong (ie. a broken link, placeholder text, or early promotion). Follow up minutes later with an “oops” apology and the real offer. The first email creates curiosity and gets attention. The follow-up feels more human and gives you a natural place to add a discount or incentive. Use this sparingly, as repeating this tactic too often makes it obvious.
Showing the person behind a service can make a landing page more persuasive when customers need reassurance before taking action. For a financial services client, replacing a calculator-focused headline with “Is equity release right for me?” and introducing a real information team member increased completed leads by 79%. The test worked by bringing the team's reputation for empathy and clear guidance onto the page before visitors had to contact them. Identify persuasive assets that already exist in the business and surface them where prospects need reassurance.

Join this webinar on August 21 at 12 PM EST for a 1-hour session on using AI to create high-quality B2B content. Speakers, including Amanda Natividad of SparkToro, Jenny Coppola of Bitly, and Meghan Crook Brisson of Intentsify, will share their workflows. They'll cover the tools and prompts they use, what they write themselves, and how they evaluate AI output.
YouTube will change how it counts public views across all video formats starting on August 24. A view will count as soon as a video begins playing, including the first frame, which will likely increase reported view counts. YouTube will keep “Engaged views” in Analytics to show how many viewers continued watching. The change won't affect creator earnings or YouTube Partner Program eligibility, which will continue to use engaged or qualified views and watch hours.

Claude's text watermarking will be difficult to remove without heavy edits. Instead of visible characters, AI watermarks hide in word choices, using secret statistical patterns that can survive copying. Detection requires the provider's secret key and enough text to distinguish the watermark from chance, making it different from style-based AI detectors. Light editing or paraphrasing can weaken the signal but may leave enough original wording to remain detectable.
Google defines content effort as the extent to which a human actively worked to create satisfying content. In practice, that means showing evidence of unique value through original research and firsthand insights, rather than recycled facts or AI-generated summaries. Organize content around the user's goal, put the most useful information upfront, and cut filler. AI can help with production, but scaled content that adds little beyond what already exists is unlikely to stand out. Before publishing, ask whether the page contains something competitors can't easily reproduce.

Brands are bringing back mascots as a way to build recognizable identities in a crowded media landscape. Crocs is launching Niles, a 6-foot crocodile, joining Liberty Mutual's Liberty Biberty and Stanley Black & Decker's talking toolbox Stan. The appeal is consistency and emotional association. Unlike celebrities, mascots can become long-term brand assets that reinforce the same personality across campaigns and markets.
Clothing brands are turning repairs and sewing into customer experiences as Gen Z embraces secondhand shopping and saving money. Levi's is expanding its repair services and teaching sewing skills, while Uniqlo offers repairs and customization, and Zara offers alterations and resale. The programs give brands new ways to stay connected with customers after the initial purchase.
Email Love discovered a lifecycle bug when a subscriber replied that three different emails had arrived at once. Each automation looked fine in the dashboard, but the combined experience was broken. Treat subscriber replies as a QA channel, not just customer service noise. Replies can surface automation collisions and purchase objections that dashboards miss. Asking specific questions, like why someone has not purchased, can also turn replies into a source of customer insight.
This Claude Loop is a 7-step workflow for turning paid-search demand into landing pages at scale. Claude handles keyword analysis, intent clustering, gap identification, and briefing. Claude Design takes the brief into the build, followed by several rounds of cleanup and QA. The final step covers CMS setup, forms, tracking, integrations, and go-live. In this case, two people produced 20 landing pages in one week.

71% of people want at least half their time spent on IC work, while 66% cite lack of influence as the biggest downside. Former managers who moved into IC roles are particularly satisfied, with 75%+ saying they wouldn't trade roles with anyone else in their organization.
Companies often avoid the hard problems that could make their businesses more defensible. Difficult, uncertain problems tied directly to customer value are the best early indicator of a moat. However, that uncertainty pushes teams toward smaller tasks that provide faster feedback, even when they don't create a lasting competitive advantage. Traditional moats like scale and switching costs only emerge later.
Reddit is becoming an AI-search battleground as brands look to influence the conversations that AI models cite. However, Reddit users and moderators are pushing back against overt brand activity. Brilliant Earth's attempt to hire a Reddit strategy manager sparked a warning from r/jewelry moderators about potential promotional content. Brands can't treat Reddit like another distribution channel and expect to manufacture positive sentiment.

A study of 60 ChatGPT conversations found that brands appearing in ChatGPT's initial search queries were cited 33X more often than brands discovered through retrieval, with 68.9% vs. 2.1% mention rates. In 21 of 27 conversations, ChatGPT named brands before fetching search results. Brands that consistently appeared in these queries were more likely to earn citations, while retrieved pages had only a 3.1% citation rate overall.
ShieldFont swaps out an average of 24.5% of a page's words, and 45.8% of its content words, into subtly wrong substitutes that only appear in the raw HTML source scrapers pull down, while human readers still see the correct rendered text. The swaps use words with a similar part of speech but an unrelated meaning rather than obvious synonyms or gibberish, since a smart filter can catch either of those. Tested across six scraper pipelines, more than 90% of ShieldFont pages were rejected outright, and the small share that got through still carried real, correctly spelled sentences that assert nothing true.
An ecommerce brand added an Instagram Stories-style row to its homepage, placing circular, horizontally scrollable product bubbles above the hero section. Each bubble featured a product image and an outcome-focused label like “Lean Protein”, “Gut Health” or “Clean Energy” and linked to the relevant collection. The change increased conversion rate by 15.44% and collection page views by 6.51%, while AOV stayed flat.
Katelyn's Unignorable newsletter landing page uses a single-focus design with no navigation or archive links. The email form stays above the fold on desktop and mobile and only asks for an email address. It also uses subscriber count and photos with recognizable figures as social proof, plus a specific value proposition to differentiate the newsletter. Two suggested improvements were a more compelling CTA and an immediate welcome gift to increase sign-ups.
A competitor analysis prompt can identify differentiators and turn them into ad headlines, descriptions, and assets that align with the landing page. A landing page prompt can create keyword-focused pages in different styles, such as urgency, benefits, or reassurance, to support testing. An audience prompt can define ideal customer profiles and map them to Google Ads custom segments, in market audiences, and affinity categories.
MCPs can turn Claude from a standalone chatbot into a command center for GTM work by connecting it to the tools, data, and workflows teams already use. The most useful setup combines multiple MCPs, reusable skills, and scheduled routines so Claude can pull live context, analyze data, create assets, and write results back into systems of record. The showcased workflows span campaign planning, CRM analysis, SEO updates, AI search monitoring, personalized landing pages, performance reporting, and unstructured customer research, showing how teams can automate work that normally requires jumping between tools. The broader strategy is to keep purpose-built GTM tools as the system of record while using MCPs to make their capabilities accessible through Claude.
Creator and social content is becoming a larger source of citations in AI search as owned brand pages lose ground. AirOps analyzed 3.5B citations and found creator/social citation share grew 140% from August 2025 to June 2026, while brand.com/product citations fell 10%. YouTube drove most of the growth, with its citation share rising 158%. The impact varies by industry and AI engine, but creator content is becoming an important source of evidence for AI-generated answers.
Bloom Nutrition's founders describe their approach as a second-mover advantage, taking an already-understood category and out-executing on flavor, branding, and community instead of inventing something new. It rebuilt energy drinks, long marketed to men, around a soothing self-care ritual for Gen Z and millennial women, then carried that positioning into convenience stores with no shelf space left for another energy brand. Rather than compete with Monster and Red Bull on volume, it pitched operators on the female foot traffic they were missing, landing first at Texas travel-center chain Buc-ee's before 7-Eleven and Circle K followed.
AI operates on what researchers call a jagged frontier, capable enough on some tasks to make people faster and more accurate, then unexpectedly unreliable on a similarly difficult task next to it. The failure mode isn't an obviously broken draft - it's a plausible one, since AI output now arrives organized, confident, and complete enough that reviewing it feels like editing instead of investigating. In one study, accuracy on a harder business problem fell by up to 24 percentage points among consultants using AI, even though the same tool had earlier produced dramatic productivity gains on easier tasks.
