Context management is usually the hardest part about building an agent. The job of the agent designer is to make sure agents have the right context window. Context is not free - every token in the context influences model behavior. The massive context windows of modern large language models are a powerful capability, but they can easily result in sloppy information management. Make sure everything in the context is something that matters.
Large language models may be pushed to select 'slop' words because those words have more possible endings, even if none of those endings are the best one. Small and seemingly unimportant changes to tokenizers can have an unexpectedly large effect on outputs. Character-level transformers may be worse, but models that try to group tokens so that they're equally 'surprising' might make it better.
Meta AI introduced a parallel thinking method that uses model-internal confidence to filter low-quality reasoning traces during or after generation, requiring no extra training or tuning and integrating into existing serving frameworks.
OpenAI has warned investors against unauthorized opportunities to gain exposure to OpenAI, including special purpose vehicles (SPVs). While not every offer of OpenAI equity is problematic, some firms are attempting to circumvent the startup's transfer restrictions. These sales will not be recognized and will carry no economic value to buyers. Anthropic has also told investors to avoid using SPVs to invest in an upcoming round.
Nvidia has asked its suppliers to pause production of its China-specific H20 chips after the Chinese government told domestic tech companies to stop purchasing Nvidia's chips and turn to local alternatives.

Anthropic is reportedly in advanced talks to raise as much as $10 billion in a new funding round. The discussions are still ongoing, and terms could change. Anthropic raised $3.5 billion in March, giving it a post-money valuation of $61.5 billion. It recently expanded the prompt window for Claude Sonnet 4 fivefold and announced that it would offer Claude to all three branches of the US government for $1 per agency for one year.
Meta has agreed to spend more than $10 billion on Google Cloud services in an agreement that spans six years. While the companies are rivals in online ads, Meta needs all the cloud infrastructure it can access. It has also made commitments to use cloud services from Amazon and Microsoft.
People have always been skeptical of new technologies, but the world eventually catches up and reaches a new equilibrium. AI is shuffling the deck again, making many past playbooks obsolete. For the first time in the digital era, marginal costs are way larger than zero. This means the way we produce products needs to be radically different. Organizations that build using an empirical approach, think in probabilities, and measure complex trajectories will define the next era of technology.
Lower gross margins at a moment in time are not a long-term indicator of a lack of a sustainable business model. AI applications deliver deep customer value, strong usage and retention, and explosive net expansion. Margins alone don't tell the full story. Fixating on margins while ignoring a company's value to its customers, retention, and ease of acquisition misses the mark. There are many effective strategies for AI app companies to drive healthy margins in the long term.
People who buy AI tools should avoid purchasing redundant tools and focus on actual impact. They should have clear goals and know what business problems they're solving with AI and the impact that's going to have. Builders should be careful about how they position their products and be clear about their value propositions. The boring stuff matters, as that's what allows enterprises to confidently use products in their workflows.

OpenAI has introduced Connectors and Conversations to its Responses API. Connectors pull context from other apps using a single API call. Conversations allow persistent chat threads for users without developers having to run their own database. The new features are compatible with Deep Research.
PACT (Pairwise Auction Conversation Testbed) is a benchmark for conversational bargaining by language models. It allows researchers to study haggling skills in language models. The benchmark contains over 5,000 games of 20 rounds each. Results from the current top models are available in the repository.
DuPO introduces a dual learning framework that avoids manual annotations by generating self-supervised feedback through a generalized duality approach.
One of the biggest topics in AI these days is that AI is going to move from chatbots to reliably completing real-world tasks. However, agents really aren't all that reliable right now. There's a lot of work happening in the AI industry to try to fix that. In this interview, David Luan, the head of Amazon's AGI research lab, talks about why progress on AI models has slowed and predictions for what's next in the industry.
General Motors (GM) has made nearly a dozen hires from top tech companies in the last eight months. It is aiming to build a small but elite AI center of excellence. The team is already helping GM executives from manufacturing to engineering use AI more effectively. It will consult on AI uses, help individual groups build their own AI workforces, secure partnerships, and negotiate vendor contracts.
Google has begun integrating Deep Research capabilities into NotebookLM, allowing users to streamline the process of finding sources and bringing relevant research content directly into their notebooks.
Google Gemini CLI and other production AI systems can be deceived by image scaling attacks, which involve embedding prompts that tell AI to act against their guidelines within images, hidden from human eyes.
Most AI projects fail not because of the algorithms, but because of engineering practices. carsales discovered this when building their AI Model Finder - a vehicle recommendation tool that suggests cars based on lifestyle needs and preferences.
Google added real-time visual guidance to Gemini Live that highlights objects on-screen when using the camera along with deeper integration across the Google Suite. The update includes more expressive speech patterns that can adapt tone based on context and take direction on pace or accent, closing the gap between Google's voice capabilities and fast-growing voice AI startups.
Character.AI has been holding discussions with possible buyers, banks, and staff over the past few weeks about raising a few hundred million dollars at a valuation of more than $1 billion. The startup's founders left the company last September to join Google, leaving employees to take over ownership. If sold, the buyer would get Character.AI's app and website, which hosts chatbots that resemble anime characters, celebrities, and historical figures. Character.AI makes most of its revenue by charging for premium features with its chatbots. It expects to reach $50 million in annualized revenue by the end of the year.
AI labs will soon favor quality over quantity when procuring RL environments and spend a surprisingly large amount of money on procurement per RL task. Procuring RL tasks cheaply results in lower quality training runs, and the compute cost per RL run soon becomes very high. AI labs will increasingly move away from training on procedurally generated RL tasks and tasks produced cheaply by massive numbers of low-paid contractors toward a more labor-intensive build process that relies on full-time domain experts who spend months developing sustained context and crafting individualized tasks. The winners will be those who deliver the highest-quality, context-rich tasks, ship them rapidly, and price them efficiently given compute tasks.
Data center construction contributed as much to GDP growth as consumer spending in the first half of 2025, a historic shift given that consumer spending typically represents 70% of economic activity. AI infrastructure spending masked what would have been a -1.5% GDP contraction in Q1. AI-sensitive sectors have driven 53% investment growth since 2019 compared to flat performance elsewhere.
UserJot's founder argues for a strict two-tier architecture with stateless subagents that act as pure functions: no memory, no conversation history, just task-in-result-out. MapReduce patterns handle large-scale work through parallel execution, which keeps individual agent tasks under 30 seconds and prevents the debugging nightmares that plague complex hierarchies and shared state systems.

Most systems rely on external documentation or pre-configured knowledge to instruct AI agents when they hit protected pages, but it would be simpler to have the instructions right there in the HTML response. llms.txt is an emerging standard for making content such as docs available for direct consumption by agents. This post proposes a convention to include such content directly in HTML responses. It is designed to fit right in with llms.txt, which has found adoption for publishing LLM-targeted content in a discoverable fashion on the web.

ByteDance's Seed Team of AI researchers today released Seed-OSS-36B on Hugging Face. Seed-OSS-36B is a new line of open source, large language models designed for advanced reasoning with both synthetic- and non-synthetic-data variants and an instruct model. The synthetic-data variant is intended as a higher-performing general-purpose option, while the non-synthetic model avoids potential bias or distortion introduced by synthetic instruction data. The instruct model is post-trained with instruction data to prioritize task execution and instruction following. The models were released under the Apache-2.0 license, which allows free use, modification, and redistribution by researchers and developers working for enterprises.
