MUSK SAYS SPACEX CLOSED $40B OF GPU DEBT FOR CHIPS ARRIVING IN Q1 AND Q2

Elon Musk says SpaceX closed its $40 billion of callable debt for GPUs, with the chips arriving in Q1 and Q2 and "not a major factor this quarter." He credits investment-grade status and Starlink and launch revenue for keeping credit open. SpaceX guided Q4 capex to $35 to $40 billion. It is bringing roughly 200,000 GB300s online monthly through year-end before shifting to Vera Rubin. The company reported 1.7 GW of installed GPU nameplate capacity at September 30.

NASA REWORKS ARTEMIS AROUND ORION'S LIMITED PROPULSION, WITH STARSHIP PUSHING IT TOWARD THE MOON

NASA turned Artemis III into a roughly two-week Earth-orbit test in summer 2027, where Orion docks with test versions of Blue Moon and Starship. For the 2028 landing on Artemis IV, Starship would dock with Orion in high Earth orbit and perform the trans-lunar injection burn, while Blue Moon meets Orion in low lunar orbit, which cuts its propellant needs. NASA will pick the Artemis IV lander based on Artemis III results.

WARHOUND RAISES $200M AT A $1.2B VALUATION TO ENGINEER MILITARY DOGS AND OUTFIT THEM WITH ANDURIL SENSOR GEAR

Warhound is a startup founded by Colossal's Ben Lamm and Anduril's Palmer Luckey that plans to gene-edit Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd cell lines into working dogs with better health, speed, and smell. Anduril will supply the hardware: protective vests with data sensors that feed handlers, plus goggles. Viagen will clone the first batch, with births expected early next year and service within two years. The dogs don't exist yet, and sale prices are undecided.

MIT'S LIGHT-STEERED SWIMMING ROBOT RUNS ON A HAIR-THIN LAYER OF LIVING MUSCLE

MIT built a swimming robot from a gum-stick-sized gel frame with two fins, each coated in a muscle layer thinner than a hair and engineered to contract under light. Lighting one fin or both steers it through a maze at about four body lengths per minute. The key fixes were stiff GelMA gel about half a millimeter thick with square-bottomed grooves that align the cells, and light-pulse training to strengthen the muscle. It's the first thin 2D biohybrid swimmer.

PT-W ALLOY TESTED AS A THINNER LOW-N ABSORBER FOR HIGH-NA EUV PHOTOMASKS

Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jilin University, and partner labs evaluated a platinum-tungsten alloy as a low-n absorber for EUV photomasks, studying its film properties and imaging performance. Thinner absorbers matter for High-NA EUV because mask 3D effects degrade imaging as features shrink. Thickness and contrast figures are in the iScience paper published in August.

TESLA'S $10B TEXAS SOLAR FACTORY COULD GET 35 YEARS OF TAX BREAKS

Fort Bend County approved four deals that could give Tesla's proposed $10 billion "Project Crystal Sun" solar plant up to 35 years of tax breaks, though Tesla hasn't committed to building in Texas. The plant would be vertically integrated, making silicon ingots through finished modules near Richmond, with $8.6 billion of the spend in equipment, which gets 10 years of full abatement and 20 years of 90% rebates. Commercial cell production is due by the end of 2030.
