THE SIMPLEST, HIGHEST-ROI PLACE TO PUT AN AI AGENT IS YOUR CONTACT ME FORM

Inbound qualification is a good place to start with agent deployments because the job is bounded. The agent just needs to answer questions, qualify, route, and book. There are clear success metrics: meetings booked and revenue closed. The downsides of implementing AI in inbound qualification are low because the alternative is a form that sits in a queue.

BETTER AI DIDN'T CHANGE HOW I WORK - HUMANS DID

One AI startup's head of product tried Claude Cowork in January, and it couldn't do the job. A month later, a newly hired product manager showed the head of product how he had Claude Code agents doing his work. Watching a direct report work that far ahead did more than any product demo. That month, the head of product built a first agent to draft the weekly update for leadership. By April, Cowork was running nine jobs. Keep a list of what AI can't do yet, and retry the top items every couple of months.

03TOOLS & RESOURCES

THE FULL CLAUDE PLATFORM, AVAILABLE ON GOOGLE CLOUD

Startups can now spend their Google Cloud commitment on the full Claude Platform, which Anthropic runs and Google bills. Code execution, skills, and web search are included, and new features arrive the same day they do on Anthropic's own platform. Managed Agents and the MCP connector are in beta.

04MISCELLANEOUS

THE FORGOTTEN INDUSTRIALIST

AI founders should use George F. Johnson's “Square Deal” framework: share productivity gains among employees, customers, and the business. That means giving employees meaningful ownership, passing savings on to customers, and reinvesting in growth. Lincoln Electric offers a proof point: the company pairs profit sharing with stock returns more than twice the S&P 500's since its 1995 IPO.

TOKENS OVER HIRES

Some startups now buy engineering in tokens instead of headcount. Two founders spend about $28,000 a year on AI, less than one engineer costs. In their first month, they merged 657 pull requests. Their biggest bill is about $1,500 a month for an AI code reviewer, so neither founder has to read every first draft. Their real limit is attention. While one founder was reviewing other work, a small database problem grew until it took the product down. So their next engineer will own one piece of the product, agents included.
