GOOD ENGINEERS ARE BEING BURIED, BY CI THEY DIDN'T CHOOSE, THAT DOESN'T FIT THEIR WORKFLOWS.

Buildkite is built differently: refined primitives orchestrated with a control plane that provides control with zero compromise. OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, Meta, Uber, Shopify, Airbnb, Bazel, Backstage, vLLM and Reddit all standardized CI on Buildkite. Hosted runners or your own infra; any cloud, any OS, any chip; MCP, models and pipeline triggers for agentic development; your secrets and source code never leaving your hands.

OCTOPUS EASY MODE - PROGRESSIVE ROLLOUT

Octopus Easy Mode demonstrates progressive rollouts by promoting the same release through Development, Prod 10, Prod 50, and Prod 100 environments, with validation gates stopping failed deployments. A runbook uses delayed API calls to automatically advance successful deployments, while environments provide clearer lifecycle visualization and release progression controls than tenants.

HOW TO CHOOSE DIGITAL EXPERIENCE MONITORING TOOLS

Digital experience monitoring measures user-facing performance through RUM, synthetic monitoring, session replay, and endpoint monitoring, complementing APM by connecting frontend issues with backend telemetry. The guide emphasizes unified observability, privacy controls, integration, and total cost when evaluating DEM platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, Dynatrace, ThousandEyes, and Catchpoint.

AI IS REMOVING THE MIDDLE CLASS OF SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

AI has made code generation dramatically faster without making review, debugging, or architectural understanding equally cheap, allowing bad decisions and technical debt to accumulate much faster than before. Engineers who can evaluate tradeoffs, understand complex systems, and take responsibility for AI-generated changes may become more valuable, while implementation skill alone becomes less differentiating.

04RESOURCES & TOOLS

SWITCHYARD

Switchyard is an open-source Rust proxy and library for routing LLM traffic across providers, released under the Apache 2.0 license by NVIDIA Corporation. It translates between OpenAI Chat, OpenAI Responses, and Anthropic Messages formats, so coding agents like Claude Code or Codex can talk to backends like vLLM, Ollama, or NVIDIA NIM without changing their native API calls. The project is pre-alpha and not intended for production use, with the API expected to change significantly before v1.0.

CLOUDFLARE LAUNCHES PERSISTENT, STATEFUL, COMPUTER-LIKE ENVIRONMENTS FOR AGENTS

Cloudflare Computer is an open-source runtime for AI agents that combines scalable Cloudflare isolates with on-demand containers and browsers, reducing reliance on costly ephemeral containers. Its shared SQLite-based filesystem lets agents move between execution environments while preserving state, with auditing and observability built in, though the system remains an early preview.

HOW WE TRACKED DOWN A 16-YEAR-OLD SQLITE BUG

A rare race condition between SQLite WAL checkpointing and concurrent writes could permanently lose committed pages and corrupt databases, a bug that had existed for at least 16 years. Tailscale uncovered it after months of production forensics and 19 corruption incidents, working with SQLite maintainers to build new VFS tracing that isolated the race and led to a fix released in SQLite 3.51.3.
