MongoDB released Atlas Infinite in public preview alongside MongoDB 9.0, introducing a compute-storage disaggregated architecture designed to separate scaling while preserving WiredTiger's performance and security. To keep customer data encrypted and maintain WiredTiger's batching efficiency, MongoDB developed a blind shared storage layer using two separate logs and page materializers rather than traditional physical page logging.
