DESIGN IS A NICE-TO-HAVE

Design feels like a nice-to-have again, according to a designer who now builds software himself and finds news about design craft and tools flat. Once programming became trivial, design lost the spotlight it briefly held when SaaS commoditized software and distribution was the hardest part. Craft still matters, but a "good enough" UX suffices, since usefulness to the market was always what mattered most.
