AI has made finished-looking output cheap, so credibility at work now rests on the trail behind an artifact rather than the artifact itself. Contributors, managers, and agents each need a different ledger: rejected directions, decision rationale, and scoped, reviewable execution. A useful one captures itself from tools already in use and records only what explains how the work came to be.
