THE INVISIBLE LAYER OF UX MOST DESIGNERS IGNORE
Summary from the TLDR Design newsletter
Most designers focus on visual polish, but screen reader users experience interfaces as a linear stream of spoken content, meaning usability depends on proper structure (roles, names, and states) rather than appearance. Many accessibility issues come from missing semantic meaning—like vague labels, misuse of components, or reliance on visual cues. Designers can greatly improve accessibility by thinking beyond visuals, designing with structure in mind, and testing their work with screen readers early in the process.
