WHY GENERATIVE AI IS BAD FOR DESIGN

Generative AI tools—especially chat-based ones—conflict with core design thinking, which is visual, spatial, non-linear, and exploratory rather than sequential and output-driven. Designers should use AI intentionally to support sketching, comparison, and divergent exploration, not replace them, or risk shifting from true design thinking to simply prompting for polished deliverables.
