macOS can be "slimmed down" by disabling its hundreds of background processes. However, identifying and safely modifying these numerous, interrelated, and constantly changing processes is practically impossible, especially as most are located within the unalterable Signed System Volume. For example, even when Time Machine is disabled, its processes are still scheduled and dispatched by inaccessible system services.
