SWITCHING COSTS

As we gain experience, we become more efficient at completing individual tasks, but switching between different types of tasks can still be challenging and time-consuming. To perform at our best, we need to acknowledge the hidden costs of context switching and build adequate preparation and transition time into our schedules, even limiting the number of different tasks we can tackle in a day. While it may be humbling to accept these switching costs, planning for them is essential for maintaining high-quality work and avoiding the trap of feeling productive while compromising on performance.
