Secureworks researchers witnessed the Smoke Loader botnet dropping a custom Wi-Fi scanning executable to infected systems. The researchers named the malware ‘Whiffy Recon’. It triangulates infected systems' positions using nearby Wi-Fi access points and Google's geolocation API.
